We’ve teamed up with Code Nation to train new recruits

Back to articles

We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with digital training specialists Code Nation to train up new recruits within our growing Tech department.

Not only will this help make an impact on addressing the digital skills shortage in the UK, but it will also give our four new recruits the opportunity to train and learn the technical skills required to excel at their new roles here through Code Nation.

Based in Manchester, Code Nation provide innovative courses across a variety of digital skills, including technical abilities, commercial expertise and personal skills.

Nick Peachey, Software Development Manager said: “When recruiting new candidates for our IT team, we always look for enthusiasm and a passion to learn first. We believe in the importance of giving back to the community, and we like to give people a chance who haven’ had a traditional background in tech.”

“Working with Code Nation will enable us to invest in training and offer our new recruits the opportunity to learn the essential technical skills. This intensive course will cover key areas including programming, front-end and mobile app development. Following this, the group was then enrolled onto a further three month more specialised course to complete their journey to becoming Junior Front End Developers.”

To support our new AO-ers during their time on the course and in their roles, we’re providing technical mentors who will be on hand to support with any technical challenges along the way. Our life coaches also offer each of the four new employees a smooth transition into their new technical roles and help them integrate successfully within a large organisation like ours.

The business’s Tech department is planning to continue to grow their technical capability in order to remain at the forefront of innovation. Following a successful partnership, AO will be looking to work with Code Nation again to support with the recruitment and training of new AO’ers.
