Job Overview

About The Role

Every year, thousands of fridges, washing machines and other large domestic appliances need responsible recycling. At our specialist recycling facilities in Telford, we're turning yesterday's appliances into tomorrow's resources, recovering valuable materials, reducing waste and helping build a more sustainable future.

We're looking for an experienced Site Engineering Manager to lead engineering function at our Halesfield 15 fridge recycling facility, someone who can shape long-term strategy, strengthen asset reliability, lead major investment and build the engineering capability.

You'll lead at both functional and site level, with accountability for the engineering roadmap, capital portfolio, infrastructure, utilities, compliance, asset lifecycle and the development of engineering managers and technical teams. Staying technically close to the plant, you'll support the resolution of complex multidisciplinary challenges, shaping the design and delivery of plant modifications and capital improvements.

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

• Lead the full site engineering function and develop a high-performance engineering culture.
• Create and deliver the engineering and asset strategy.
• Lead engineering managers, maintenance leadership and specialist technical resources.
• Own site wide reliability, engineering governance and asset lifecycle planning.
• Act as senior technical authority for complex plant faults, recurring failures and difficult performance problems.
• Provide practical technical leadership during major incidents, root-cause investigations and commissioning.
• Develop and challenge engineering concepts, scopes, specifications and designs for plant and capital improvements.
• Direct major CAPEX programmes, infrastructure upgrades and automation projects.
• Set the engineering operating budget and develop robust investment cases.
• Lead engineering compliance, technical risk and contractor governance.
• Drive improvements in OEE, energy, utilities, sustainability and operating cost.
• Build succession, competence and leadership capability across the function.

A Few Things About You

• Senior engineering leadership experience in a demanding industrial, manufacturing, processing or recycling environment.
• Experience leading managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• A strong track record in reliability, asset management and engineering transformation.
• Proven delivery of significant capital programmes and engineering budgets.
• Deep, practical technical competence across mechanical, electrical, automation, process systems, infrastructure and utilities.
• A proven ability to diagnose complex multidisciplinary faults and convert operational problems into robust engineered solutions.
• Experience producing or reviewing technical scopes, designs, drawings, calculations, control philosophies and equipment specifications.
• Strong commercial judgement, safety leadership and senior stakeholder influence.
• An engineering degree or equivalent depth of relevant senior experience.
