About The Role
Consumer Finance is a core part of AO's success story, supporting millions of pounds in revenue while helping customers spread the cost of the products they love.
As Head of Consumer Finance, you'll lead the commercial and strategic direction of AO Finance, driving performance, shaping future growth opportunities and strengthening our market-leading proposition. Working closely with senior leaders across AO and key external partners, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering sustainable growth, outstanding customer outcomes and long-term business value.
This is a role with real influence across AO, bringing together commercial performance, customer experience, strategic partnerships and future growth.
Our people are our superpower, and we’re unstoppable when we’re together! We want your ideas to flow, and what better way to make that happen than being based onsite in our Bolton office at least 2 days a week, where our culture fuels creativity, collaboration and growth. If a £1 bet in the pub between two friends can become the UKs most trusted electrical retailer, imagine what else can be achieved when we’re together.
Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
- Leading the AO Finance agenda, with accountability for commercial performance, proposition development and strategic growth
- Driving improvements across key performance levers including conversion, average transaction value, customer uptake and partner revenue
- Developing and managing strategic relationships with finance providers and commercial partners

- Collaborating across Financial Services and Retail to enhance customer propositions and strengthen our competitive position
- Building alignment across the business to ensure strategic initiatives are prioritised and delivered effectively
- Creating robust business cases and investment proposals to support decision-making and future growth
- Delivering meaningful reporting and insight to executive and board-level audiences
- Maintaining strong governance, regulatory compliance and financial controls while championing great customer outcomes
- Building alignment and influencing stakeholders across AO and partner organisations to drive delivery and achieve shared goals
A Few Things About You
- Leadership experience within Consumer Finance/, Financial Services with either a retailer or lender background
- A strong track record of owning and improving commercial performance while balancing short-term results with long-term value creation
- Strong understanding of the UK Financial Services regulatory landscape and the importance of governance, compliance and Consumer Duty
- Credibility and influence at senior leadership level, with the ability to build alignment, challenge thinking and drive action across complex stakeholder groups
- Commercially minded, highly analytical and confident making decisions in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Proven success developing strategic partnerships and negotiating mutually beneficial commercial outcomes
This is an opportunity to lead one of AO's most strategically important propositions, shaping the future of Consumer Finance while delivering meaningful impact for our customers, partners and business.
A Bit About Us
We’re big on appliances and electricals, REALLY big. Washing machines, fridge freezers and TVs? They’re our bread and butter. Mobiles, Airwraps and Ring doorbells? Yep, those too. If it plugs in, powers up or makes life easier, AO probably has it.
But we’re more than that… For over 25 years, trust has been at the heart of everything we do, helping us become the UK’s most trusted electrical retailer. Our customers rate us 4.9 on Trustpilot from nearly ONE MILLION reviews and more 5-star ratings than any other UK electrical retailer, because they know they can rely on us and it’s the exact same for our AOers too.
We truly believe it’s more than just a job, we genuinely care about each other and our impact on making our customers lives easier, by helping them brilliantly. Everyone here knows how their role makes a difference. Our people are our superpower, so, when it comes to finding new AOers, we know it’s about more than just a CV, it’s about what makes you, YOU.
