We’ve all heard of the ‘Gas Safe Register’ – but you might be thinking ‘what is it?’, along with loads more questions.
Wonder no more, because AO is about to lay it all out.
Why do we need the Gas Safe Register?
The Gas Safe Register exists to protect the public from unsafe gas work.
Around a fifth of all illegal gas work investigated by the Health and Safety Executive was immediately dangerous and posed a serious health and safety risk.
Is it a legal thing?
Yes. Any Gas Engineer working on gas appliances and installations in the UK, Isle of Man and Guernsey must be on the Gas Safe Register.
Illegal gas work costs Brits £100 million every year and anyone caught carrying out gas work illegally can be hit with hefty fines and possible jail time.
What are the benefits of being Gas Safe registered?
Apart from being the safe and legal thing to do, being on the Gas Safe Register means your independent gas business will enjoy an increased profile – close to a million work queries come through the Gas Safe Register website every year.
You’ll also have access to the Gas Safe Register’s team of technical experts, a complete online account, technical bulletins, safety alerts, industry updates, and exclusive use of the Gas Safe brand.
How do I get on the Gas Safe Register?
