Last week AO offered to buy Mobile Phones Direct “MPD”, which operates mobilephonesdirect.co.uk and smartphonecompany.co.uk
The deal has been agreed and will go to our shareholders and the regulator for approval.
The deal is a very exciting milestone for AO as this will make us one of the largest mobile retailers in the UK.
MPD is an award-winning company that provides a full service mobile offering, including airtime and SIM-free contracts, as well as specialist services such as insurance, trade-in and upgrades with all of the key network operators – EE, O2, Vodafone and Three.
Managing Director, Richard Baxendale and his teams will become part of the AO family from their HQ near Reading, and will operate alongside our other AO business units (UK Retail, B2B, Financial Services, Logistics and Recycling).
