Hack Manchester win for AO – Protecting your online identity with the ‘Iam App’.

Three teams from AO competed at last week’s Hack Manchester 2018 as part of the Manchester Science Festival, alongside 220 of the best and brightest minds in tech.

Hack Manchester is a coding competition where teams compete in a gruelling 24 hour challenge to test their innovation, coding and technical skills. With this year’s challenges laid down by some of the top tech companies in Manchester we made sure our AO’ers were well prepared with a survival kit and plenty of caffeine.

As the event drew to a close, team one were crowned the winners of the ‘Avecto’ Challenge, team two were the runners up and last but not least team three secured a shortlisted entry.

The ‘Avecto’ challenge was to ‘create a digital solution to help protect or inform friends and family of the issues around Cyber Security.’ With security a hot topic in tech the team designed the ‘I AM’ app to protect your digital identity online allowing you to claim or refute digital artefacts. The team were judged on the creativity, uniqueness and potential usefulness of their product.
