About The Role
Working as part of the L&D team, the Training Specialist will have expertise in learning styles and the training cycle, coupled with a high level of systems and product knowledge. You will be able to communicate effectively within large group training to enhance individual’s knowledge and drive successful training outcomes.
Working within a team, the Training Specialist will demonstrate passion and creativity towards improving the impact of training solutions to support the L&D Strategy, while focused on the overall customer experience.
Purpose of your role - ‘Your why’
Your purpose is to ensure each person who joins AO feel valued and supported in their role development aligned with business needs in order to support the goal to have the ‘Happiest Customer’.
You will achieve this by owning the design, delivery and facilitation of training solutions within our operations across our two sites based in Telford, Halesfield and Stafford Park.
As Training Specialist, you will be instrumental in ensuring that the site is compliant with all mandatory training requirements as well as the continued development of the individuals and their roles at site.
You will act as a business partner to the site’s managers, identifying training gaps within their teams and taking necessary actions to drive success in individual departments, thus contributing to the overall success of the site.
Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
§ Design and deliver inductions in line with business needs to meet required objectives using innovative and dynamic methods of delivery
§ Keep abreast of the L&D world outside of AO in order to recommend innovative solutions that might be appropriate
§ Identify and work with the business stakeholders to understand their needs for induction and development including the long-term vision and impact
§ Drive the development of participants attending training through coordinate and manage the delivery of all training on site
§ Ensure all training completed is actively maintained on the in house system and any gaps can be easily recognised and reported to SLT and Group Managers weekly and monthly.
§ Develop training methods used on site by seeking external training providers.
§ Deliver in house training to AOer’s across the sites.
§ Conduct meetings with key stakeholders to develop employees, ensure full compliance within each department and Legislative training requirements are managed.
§ Ensure training matrix’s & skills gap analysis are in place for all departments and individual training plans are identified.
§ Work collaboratively with the site People team to ensure new starters have a training plan relevant to their job role
§ Responsible for the delivery of group induction.
§ Liaising with heads of department to ensure both compliance training and staff development needs are identified.
§ Ensure the training budget is maintained and reported on to SLT.

§ KPIs aligned to objectives that demonstrate engagement, quality and impact of training and learning initiatives delivered
§ Provide monthly reports including data, statistics and commentary for business updates
§ Complete projects in agreed time frames using sound project management methodologies
§ Contribution to the achievement of the overall people metrics
A Few Things About You
§ Be an ambassador for the learning and development team and its various initiatives
§ Regularly meet with key stakeholders to discuss and review current status and build plans for future development activities.
§ Consistently align all activities to the objectives of the programmes and measure them to assess whether they are meeting expectations
§ Proactively share knowledge and keep L&D management up to date on any important movements and information
§ Use data, knowledge and experience to influence thinking and make decisions
§ Establish yourself as the subject-matter expert and a key influencer for training
§ Design innovative and engaging training solutions that challenge the ordinary to suit the AO way
§ Share knowledge with the team, gained through continual self-development practices
§ Your customers work evenings and weekends therefore there is an expectation that you support the business to deliver training during evenings and weekends when necessary.
§ You will be CIPD L&D Level 5 qualified with your Train the Trainer qualification
