Job Overview

About The Role

At AO, our Data Engineering, Analytics & AI team is all about the data game. Our mission? Transforming data into a powerful strategic asset and fostering a data-driven culture.

Currently, we're in the midst of some pretty intricate migration projects. We're talking about data from all corners of our business, and we're diving deep into Enterprise availability groups and the cutting-edge world of AWS cloud-based tech.

Now, if you're up for the challenge, we've got a role that's open to anyone with a taste for adventure. It's all about administering and managing a mission-critical, complex, and high-volume Database Platform in a 24/7/365 environment. Are you ready to join us on this data-driven journey?

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

Every day, you'll be in the SQL driver's seat, steering and maintaining a sprawling and intricate codebase. Your ownership extends to both routine and not-so-routine complex tasks - think deployments, configurations, support, and the careful stewardship of Microsoft SQL and its data management companions.

Keeping our Database Platform safe is your mission. You'll make sure it's snugly backed up and protected, guarding against the unthinkable like data loss or corruption, and ensuring our business sails smoothly.

And because we're all about staying ahead, you'll keep our Database Platform fresh with the latest patches, right across the tech spectrum. Plus, you'll have your security goggles on at all times, keeping a watchful eye over practices, assessments, and fixing any issues to keep our Database Platform rock-solid."

A Few Things About You

  • You’ve got experience working at a Senior Operational Database Administration capacity, meaning you’ve got the ability to fully administer and manage mission-critical and complex database environments in AWS and Azure.
  • You’ll have knowledge of database high availability, clustering, disaster recovery, very high transaction volumes, and performance tuning.
  • You have a strong knowledge of SQL Server (multiple versions)
  • You’re confident in your knowledge and experience of batch scheduling software.

A Bit About Us

When it comes to appliances and electricals, we’ve got the lot. Washing machines? Yep. TVs? Check. Laptops? Absolutely. Everything except doorbells (just kidding, we’ve got those too).

We’re known for helping our customers brilliantly - and it’s no different for AOers. We care about more than what’s on your CV, because together we can do extraordinary things.
