About The Role

We are currently embarking on a hugely exciting internal transformation, transitioning our development teams to fully independent, autonomous, and cross functional product teams - a business wide initiative led by our CEO John Roberts.

Our agile coaching team is at the heart of this transformation, improving and driving AO’s agile culture.

Right now, we’re recruiting Scrum Masters to help support our product teams in delivering value.

We are looking for people who can help teams improve ways of working, remove impediments and reduce waste - helping our teams increase autonomy, alignment and accountability.

You will be helping, supporting, and coaching teams and stakeholders to improve the flow of value across the department.

But this role isn’t about forcing ways of working. It is about asking the right questions, empirically demonstrating agile ways of working, and coaching and mentoring the teams so they can figure out those improvements themselves.

Your job is to help the teams to find a better way, not to prescribe your way.

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

You’ll spend time coaching teams as well as supporting improvements across AO to help product teams deliver value at pace.

You’ll support and develop product teams through training, to apply agile principles throughout the development lifecycle, focusing on continuous improvement and quality.

You’ll help teams to agree working practices and help reflect on the success of each iteration.

You’ll help teams take ownership and accountability for their work.

You’ll create a safe environment for healthy conflict and constructive challenge throughout the product life-cycle, ensuring issues are aired and resolved with a view to moving forward.

Providing expertise, ideas, suggestions and strategies from your own experience, you’ll act as a mentor to the teams you support.

A Few Things About You

You will be a true servant-leader and will help teams, customers and the wider organisation meet their needs and goals without any agenda of your own.

You will also be a change agent, coaching those around you in adopting agile working practices and increasing effectiveness.

You will work with teams to find what works for them rather than policing agile processes: your goal will be highly effective teams rather than just "doing agile".

With a breadth of experience and knowledge, you will have coached in different teams in different agile environments, and in different industries.

You know the role of a Scrum Master has many stances and great diversity - you’ll live the eight stances of a Scrum Master and the principles of the Manifesto of Agile Software Development.

You’re highly effective at building partnerships within teams and across the business, and see yourself as coaching not just teams but people too.

An excellent facilitator, you’re able to educate through effective training in agile ways of working at any level of knowledge or seniority, using your proven toolbox and pinching the best from XP, Kanban, Scrum and elsewhere.

You will be draw from a range of agile frameworks and methodologies and not adopt a "one size fits all" approach

You can devise, communicate and articulate what better looks like, and continuous improvement is at the heart of what you do
