About The Role
Over the past year, we have seen a significant increase in customers turning to online shopping. To keep up with the demand we are scaling up our business, this involves bringing online several new warehouses and outbases across the UK.
We have also got big ambitions to become the global destination for electricals. We are looking for someone to work on the delivery of cutting edge technologies in a rapidly expanding and dynamic company. The candidate will have a strong ability to offer high level technical expertise regarding the stability and growth of both current and future systems.
This role will be key in helping us deliver our growth plans and to help maintaining our ever expanding site locations.
Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
As a member of the network team you will be involved in all aspect of the groups WAN, LAN and WiFi infrastructure with a primary focus on providing 2nd/3rd line support for our sites. This includes the end to end delivery of new sites and deployment of new technologies.
As well as focusing on implementing new solutions, you will be responsible for the network’s stability and robustness. This role will demand a highly technical background and the ability to understand, manage and resolve incidents of varying scale and complexity. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to translate highly complex issues to nontechnical members of staff or 3 parties. Specifically, this role will require an excellent ability to methodically perform an analytical thought process, which will include extracting information from business users and diagnostic tools.
AO currently has around 40 sites in the UK and 7 in Germany but as the business continues to grow this number is going to rapidly increase over the coming months and years. You will be required to liaise with our project managers and third parties for support issues and procurement.
AO is a fast-paced business which moves quickly to fuel growth therefore this will be reflected in the role, so you’ll need that drive to grow with the business. Training and support will be given where required and you will be working very closely with our vastly experienced network team.
The role will primarily be based in our head office in Bolton however flexibility will be required as there will be some travel to sites when required.

· Cisco Switching Configuration
· Knowledge of WAN technologies (MPLS, SD-WAN)
· Firewall admin and management (FortiGate, Palo Alto)
· Wi-Fi deployment and support (Extreme)
· Network monitoring (Solarwinds)
· IP Subnetting
· Working on sites throughout UK - possibly Germany
· Network drawings and documentation
· Vendor and supplier management
· Working in line with project plans
· Network troubleshooting
· Wireless troubleshooting
Desired but not essential
· AWS network technologies (Transit gateway, direct connects, load balancers)
· Network Automation
· CCTV implementation
· Door Access Control implementation
· Certificate authentication
