Job Overview

About The Role

We’ve seen exponential growth here at AO over the past 12 months and are delighted to announce that due to an internal promotion we are now looking to appoint a new Head of Finance - AO Services to join the team. Reporting to our Operations Finance Director Andy Johnson, this person will be a key member of the Operations Finance leadership team and will provide comprehensive and professional financial partnership to the AO Logistics, Financial Services, Recycling and Reverse Supply Chain divisions.

You’ll be a critical business partner to the respective divisional Managing Directors and senior leaders, on both strategic and operational financial issues but we’ll also expect you to lead and develop the team you’ll inherit, to further build capability, maximise performance and support career progression. All this while playing an integral part in the business’ overarching growth and expansion plans.

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

This is a truly exciting time at AO and given the scale and continued growth of our business, you’ll be an important player in multiple key development areas including, but not limited to, the scaling of our operations in the supply chain to ensure our cost control in this area is managed and understood, as well as bringing a digital first mentality to how our systems and processes drive the desired control environment.

We’ll be looking for you to support the delivery of the business plan covering new business opportunities, which either enable the delivery of, or enhance, this plan, driving cost leadership, cash management and improved working capital.

From a team perspective you’ll be passionate about leading, developing and motivating individuals and will love promoting a culture of high performance and achievement - you set the standard in terms of what good looks like.

It’ll be critical that you ensure financial reporting is to the highest of standards and that monthly accounts preparation and reporting are completed in a timely manner - covering the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow.

Strong business partnering will be a given to you: we need a true business partner who sees the business/commercial side of things, not just the numbers. You’ll be a heavy influencer, so creating strong relationships with senior executives, directors and other senior leaders can be expected from day 1.

A Few Things About You

You’ll bring significant financial leadership experience in a logistics/manufacturing environment, where you’ve dealt with stock movements both from a sales perspective and a reverse supply chain perspective.

Bringing an interest in and ability to coach others to higher levels of performance, offering encouragement and supporting others to view change as an opportunity for growth will be important to us, so we’ll want to see demonstrable experience of this.

A critical part of this role will be influencing across a wide range of stakeholders, so strong communication skills, up to and including both senior leadership / C-level are a must - plus, we’ll need to be comfortable that not only are you an expert in your field from a technical perspective but are also able to relay compelling/critical messages in layman terminology.

Oh, and you’ll likely be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, with strong knowledge of MS Excel and ideally experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365.
