More About the Role

As Head of Delivery at AO, you have an eye across the entire AO Group. This gives you a great platform to understand where the team needs to focus their efforts, matching the projects/initiatives to the business objectives. You’ll work closely with the Exec, Senior Leadership Team and AO Tech team to build and communicate the Group Delivery plan which you will then cascade into the various programmes of work.

This role is not just about planning, you will have great team to support you consisting of Business Analysts, Project and Programme Managers who you will lead and shape into your own team. At AO we have two vibrant communities of practice for Business Analysis and Project Management that we are incredibly proud of. Your role will be to ensure they have the space to flourish whilst also providing clear team and personal objectives to the whole function.

Finally, if that’s not enough to get you excited, we are on a journey to incorporate a product development practice within AO Tech. You will be responsible for helping form this and then defining how it integrates with Group Plan priorities.

Here's What You Can Expect to be Doing

§ Accountable for planning, agreeing and delivering the AO Group Plan with the Exec and Senior Leadership Team across Retail, Logistics, Financial Services, IT Services, B2B, Mobile and Recycling in both the UK and Europe.

§ Engage and influence the Exec and Senior Leadership Team’s thinking towards project planning and delivery.

§ Responsible for communicating plan status to the Exec and Senior Leadership Team including delivered outcomes/benefits.

§ Work with Finance to allocate costs and budget for projects appropriately.

§ Responsible for identifying opportunities to support the business on initiatives that may not be on the Group Plan but would benefit from Project team involvement.

§ Work closely with the AO Tech Procurement team and the business to identify 3rd party products and services that may solve/accelerate initiatives on the Group Plan.

§ Be the eyes and ears of AO Tech to ensure any initiatives that may have a Tech impact are brought to the attention of the relevant people in the function.

§ Lead and drive key strategic initiatives from a discovery perspective before transitioning them into the wider team where appropriate.

§ Help AO establish a Product Development capability and lead on how Projects and Product co-exist.

§ Set the people strategy for the Projects team ensuring everyone is given the tools and framework to operate within.

§ Responsible for ensuring the Projects team is resourced appropriately, to deliver the Group Plan whilst maintaining an eye on your headcount and budget.
