More About the Role

You’ll act as the conduit between the customer, the business and AO Tech, helping the Data Engineering, Analytics & AI (DEA&AI) team act as a service and delivery partner to the business as part of AO’s ambitious strategic Data programme. This will be a comprehensive programme of data led initiatives that will transform AO’s ability to manage and use data for strategic advantage. Engaging with senior stakeholders, you’ll work closely with Data Product Managers to own, shape, maintain and execute against AO’s Data Roadmap.

You’ll help AO deliver the right stuff as quickly as possible, ensuring everybody understands where your projects are up to, how (and when) are they being implemented and how we are measuring success. The programme of work is broad with initiatives ranging from building capability to transforming the organisation to delivering data insights to fostering data innovation.

Building strategic relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, understanding what they do and what’s important to them will be vital to this role. You’ll also invest time understanding the key functions and processes of the areas of the business your projects are impacting, and how that business area contributes to a top-notch AO customer experience.

This is a remote-first role and is advertise on the following basis:

Role is open to UK-based candidates only. You must be eligible to work in the UK with no restrictions

You are expected to work from home most of the time with a minimum 1 day-week spent in the office in Bolton (post COVID-19 lockdown)

You are also expected to take part in face to face team events that are deemed essential (post COVID-19 lockdown)

You will be provided with the necessary equipment to perform your role

You must have a fast and reliable broadband / WiFi connection to be able to work remotely in an effectively way

Here's What You Can Expect to be Doing

Working closely with the relevant business unit representatives and AO Tech, you’ll help maintain direction and delivery of AO’s Data Programme. The backlogs of prospective work will be clearly understood, and the potential work valued and prioritised accordingly. You will use a mindset of creating competitive advantage by capturing growth, profit and cost optimisation opportunities with data.

You’ll foster a culture of collaboration with Data Product Managers, Business Analysts, Data Architects, development teams and other key areas of the business who are responsible for delivering change for AO. You’ll work collaboratively with our passionate blended teams of in-house and 3rd party talent; you will support our teams in understanding data requirements and their associated benefits. You will play a key role in shaping, planning, implementing and delivering value in a challenging and fast paced environment.

You’ll provide a clear vision and direction to the delivery teams and stakeholders throughout the delivery of the programme, including operating programme board review meetings to check progress, agree direction. You will ensure appropriate integration and collaboration with other programme managers takes place to ensure the Data programme has access to the right resource at the right time.

You’ll ensure appropriate reviews are undertaken to measure the performance of change delivered by projects, once work is live and being used. You will manage relationships at a senior level and positively influence those around you to drive the importance of the data strategy.

A Few Things About You

You’ll have demonstrable experience operating as a senior project or programme manager, with demonstrable experience of delivering a range of complex and interconnected data initiatives as part of a strategic transformation programme.

You can demonstrate a good working understanding of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and are familiar with a range of programme methodologies, stage gates and frameworks referenced in the APM PMBOK.

You’ll have good understanding and appreciation for data technologies, data management and data exploitation.

You’ll have solid experience managing programme budgets, creating business cases, negotiating funding sources and providing clear and accurate programme / project financial trackers.

You’ll have experience working with distributed teams and remote-first teams

You are a confident public speaker and are not afraid to have difficult conversations.
